Making processes smarter – with digital EDUR product ID
Digitalization is in full swing: processes in mechanical and plant engineering that were still analogue a few years ago have already been digitalized. Industry 4.0 is no longer a topic for large companies only. The digital transformation of industry is being accelerated by legal requirements such as the European Parliament's Machinery Regulation 2023/1230.
To support the digitalization of its customers' processes, EDUR has now introduced a digital product ID as standard. Each pump has an individual QR code that contains the pump name and unique serial number as well as the year of manufacture and technical parameters such as delivery head, flow rate or maximum operating pressure of the pump.
With the provision of digitally structured technical data, the product ID offers several opportunities to improve customer processes. In addition to the rapid availability of the data directly at the pump, the data can be automatically transferred to internal systems, safely and error-free thanks to machine-readable information. This data can be used in many different ways - for example in product data or error management.
In order to use the new EDUR product ID, it must be integrated into the company's digital infrastructure. An interface is required to integrate the data into the system, e.g. in the product data management (PDM), merchandise management or ERP system. A pump could be scanned at the customer's incoming goods department, for example. Then, the data is automatically made available for further processing at the appropriate points in the system.
In addition to this service, digital name plates are currently being expanded even further: Within next year, it will also be possible to use QR codes to access the relevant pump documents, such as the dimension sheet or operating instructions for the respective pump.
