Since its inception in 1986, the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival (SHMF) has been among the most spectacular international cultural events in the world. Year after year, it has fascinated visitors from near and far with its high-class, international soloists and orchestras as well as with its special venues during the summer months.
The academies at Theater Kiel include the Children's and Youth Choir, the Orchestra Academy and the Ballet Academy. In these three divisions, the Theater Kiel bundles its activities for children and young people and thus continues the idea of cultural education of the youth.
The concert series CON SPIRITO of the Philharmonic Orchestra Kiel has committed themselves for more than 10 years to innovative concert formats with great success. The array of experiments, with the target to make new audiences curious, ranges from crossover projects to live accompaniment of silent and feature films to the linkage of various art forms such as poetry and music in the Philharmonic Poetry Slam.
